About
Who are we?
Clay the Wifebeater was bom from over 20 years of frustration over the ridiculous treatment from law enforcement, courts, clergy and blood family. One should not have to beg for safety in one's own home or prove to be a worthy victim in order to receive help. The term "wife-beater" has two origin stories, neither of them pleasant.
The most relevant to our time involves the 1947 arrest of James Hartford Jr. in Detroit after beating his wife to death in their home. The picture of him in a blood stained undershirt gathered nationwide attention to an issue as old as marriage itself. Who is clay? It doesn't matter, just a loser who kept beating his wife. It could be John or Bob but I don't play so I chose clay.
